Update: And you can watch her stunning performance here.
So it’s the every other of my “every other Wednesday” schedule for this blog. Two blogs in 2021 so far and both have fallen on auspicious days.
My January 6 post was written and scheduled well in advance of all the shocking events of that day. I actually forgot that it went live that morning, as our collective focus moved to something far more important.
Today’s coincides with the inauguration of a new president. And I gotta tell you, my words don’t really seem important today and so instead, I direct you to
this NPR news story about Amanda Gorman, the 22 year-old poet who wrote and is performing her poem at Joe Biden’s inauguration today.
and this one from The New York Times, which included this quote from Amanda (and that’s her pictured above.):
“Poetry is typically the touchstone that we go back to when
we have to remind ourselves of the history that we stand on,
and the future that we stand for.”
And I encourage you to use your words. The real words you feel in your heart and know about your service to the world. Expressing the core of your business without the artifice and bluster and buzz…that can be a kind of poetry in itself.
“Well Said Wednesday” is a blog by Barbara Govednik, Founder, Content Coach & Message Strategist of 4.23 Communication. It’s published every other Wednesday…ish.
